Narrengold

Narrengold mixes mechanics and visuals of a Point & Click Adventure with comic-like panel design and the atmosphere of a fairy tale. While exploring and travelling from panel to panel, the story is being told by an omniscient narrator. Players can listen, relax and solve interactive riddles. Thrilling cutscenes visualize the tragic events that took place in the past of the village.

The different locations the players get to visit are visualized as 2D images. Arranged in a larger environment that follows the shape of the town, they resemble panels in a comic book or graphic novel.

To enforce these visuals, we wanted to enable diverse perspectives, shapes and sizes for each panel. Entrances and exits are placed anywhere in the 2D space, making exploring even more fun. Ornated frames around the paintings add to the fairy tale-like atmosphere.
